OUR TEACHERS

Meet Owner and Operator of Love to Read Inc.

I am Denecia Gulley the founder and CEO of Love to Read Inc. I was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. On July 26, 2014 I relocated to Houston, TX. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Davenport University and a Master’s degree in Special Education from the University of Phoenix. I have 20 years of teaching experience. I have taught grades kindergarten through ninth, in a variety of subjects. I am a mother to a set of twins. My daughter, Sharde’ obtained her Master’s Degree from Western Michigan University and my son, Javonte’ has begun his career in launching a reformed program for ex-offenders. The Lord has blessed me with two grandchildren, A’mor and Josiah. Being a grandmother has filled my world with excitement and plenty of stories to tell.

As a mother and educator I worked hard to provide all the qualities I believed my children and students needed to be a positive, life-changing influence in society, including but not limited to, wisdom, knowledge, guidance, patience, love, protection, understanding, and insight.

I remember as a teenager I would spend time teaching children how to read and during those moments I knew I had a passion for helping children develop a love for reading, along with assisting them with developing confidence and positive self-esteem.

Dreams of today are realities of tomorrow. After 20 years of teaching in the school setting, I decided to resign from the educational system on August 7, 2018 to launch my own tutoring company, Love to Read Inc. Who would have ever thought that my childhood dream of teaching children how to read would become the reality I now live each day.

Because of my love for children and the true joy I’ve gained through my teaching experiences, I have discovered that education is my calling from God.

I don’t do this for the competition of others but for the love I have for children. Children are unapologetically themselves, working up the courage to be who they are creatively and imaginatively. I always tell people, “Ms. Gulley loves the kids”.

I see my profession and calling as an educator, not as a job, but as an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of people and to always show God’s love to others. God is love and through his love I decided that Love to Read was the ideal name for the tutoring company. Through this love; hearts and minds will be changed one book at a time.

In my personal time I enjoy reading, mediating, traveling, movies, music and spending time with family and friends. Additionally, I have always been very active in my church, the schools, and the community.

I look forward to educating your scholar.
